Food Bonanza
The school needed to make better use of its dining space so that youngsters could enjoy lunch in a more relaxed atmosphere. So, on 10-07-2022 a Food Bonanza was organized for the students of grade VI – XII in order to replace outdated snack bar with a modern fast food-style counter as such schemes have been a recipe for success.
In addition to the opportunity to learn about diet and health, pupils had the chance to spend social time with their peers over lunch and to further develop their relationships with their teachers. The sense of community was a predominant feature and the event was very well received by the pupils. It was extremely successful in encouraging pupils to consider the correct eating behaviors to support their personal health, wellbeing and learning. The pupils took two key messages from the event:
- Food is essential to fuel the body to learn effectively and maintain good health.
- Food throughout the day must be properly balanced between the 5 food groups to maintain health and reduce the chance of disease. This was a fun
