Coming back to this place always arises in me a feeling of peace and eternity. There is a kind of virtual attachment with this place which never lets the obvious nostalgic feeling sink. I attribute this to some eternal power which pulls us like magnet.
Well, I hail from a very modest farming background and the institutions like Akal Academy is a boon for us, the rural people. I came to this place, as back as in 1989 and after studying here for eleven glorious years of my life, I Finally passed out in 2000. I came here as a five year old child. In those late eighties Punjab was a very disturbed state and for my own good, my father met Babaji and in no time I was here in this 'Valley of Divine Peace'. At first this decision to send me away from home did not gladden my heart. But I learnt the first hard lesson in my life – to vacate personal comforts for far fetched goals. On the contrary, this place struck a perfect balance with me and I realized there was much more to this sacred valley apart from its remote location and spiritual connectedness.
Now looking back I realize, I have spent more time living here in Baru Sahib than my home. With the holy blessing of Babaji, like every body, I was groomed here very well on the lines of spiritual and conventional teachings. Along the way all those values of tenacity, simplicity and hard work imbibed in me. Our Doctor Veerji and hard working staff members encouraged us to work harder and harder. No other boarding school would allow you to study up to 12 mid-night, but we used to study here and even the teachers were awake with us till midnight.
Our message for youngsters studying here would be that……they are special children, who have come so far away to study at this place. This school provides the most viable grooming environment. You should believe in your abilities and try to walk on the principles of Babaji and realize that days spent here at this place were the best.
As far as professional life is concerned, I have completed my graduation in Medical Microbiology and later worked with Batra Hospital, New Delhi for sometime. Now I have decided to pursue my Masters in Microbiology.
It has always been a wonderful feeling coming back to this place. This place is growing at a very fast pace. I am always gladdened to see Babaji working so hard at such an age. I would earnestly want to help this institution as much as I can. There is a university coming up and we all need to contribute for its growth. I would certainly help in whatever form possible either monetary (Sewa) or professional expertise. |
